Breaking Communication Barriers between Tech Services and Subject Specialists
Thursday June 4, 2026 11:45am - 12:45pm CDT
When it comes to collection development, the integrated work between eresources, scholarly communications, and liaison librarians can be dysfunctional. What, if any, dedicated dialogue or feedback loops are in place to improve collaboration and understanding surrounding shared issues and responsibilities? Let’s share why some collaborations have more barriers than others and strategize making interdepartmental relationships more reciprocal.

But When Would I Even Do Research? A conversation about reclaiming and reimagining scholarship
Thursday June 4, 2026 11:45am - 12:45pm CDT
NASIG attendees often face fragmented, deadline‑driven, and administratively burdened work that makes reflection or research feel impossible. This informal discussion invites participants to surface the barriers that block deep work. We will develop concrete, manageable practices for folding incremental research habits into everyday professional life or longer, dedicated periods such as sabbaticals. By exchanging strategies for reclaiming time and intellectual space, we will center research as a way of nurturing ourselves—individually and collectively. Insights from this session will produce immediate takeaways and feed later critical conversations about research as a human‑centered act of agency.

Minimum Viable MARC Bibliographic Records
Thursday June 4, 2026 11:45am - 12:45pm CDT
The PCC Advisory Committee for Library Systems and Vendors created guidelines, primarily for vendors, for minimum viable MARC bibliographic records (see the guidelines here). I would like to promote and get feedback on the guidelines, or just discuss vendor records in general. As time (and your lunch plan) allows, discussion on any topic involving library and vendor relations is welcome.

Law Library User Group Lunch & UW Madison Law Library Tour
Thursday June 4, 2026 11:45am - 1:45pm CDT
Meet up with fellow law library friends at NASIG! All are welcome, whether law library staff or just interested in law libraries. Join us for lunch and/or the law library tour.

11:45 am - 12:45 pm
Grab some takeout from inside the Memorial Union or bring your own lunch and join us on the Terrace to eat and chat. We'll try to get table space near the large orange chair (near the exit by the food takeout options). Look for a "Law Library User Group" sign. If it's raining we will plan to meet with our food on the first floor of the Memorial Union in the Lakeview Lounge.

12:50 pm
The lunch group will walk from the Memorial Union to the Law Library (1/3 mile, 50 foot elevation change up the hill), and if you wish to join only for the tour, meet us at 1:00 pm at the entrance to the Law Building (975 Bascom Mall). The entrance to building is the 3rd floor, and the law library is on the 5th floor.

1:05 pm - 1:45 pm UW Madison Law Library Tour
We will get a tour of the law library and another chance to chat in the building as time allows. We'll walk back as a to the conference space in time for the 2:00pm Vision Session in the Great Hall.

Questions? Contact the organizer Becky Bearden at [email protected].
